- Medium colored, very thick and long lasting head.
Here's something I've noticed. Heady root beer always seems to have
phosphoric acid as an ingredient. Anyway, back to the story. This draft
has average carbonation, and has a bit of a tang to it. The flavor isn't
terribly strong; it's just that there's an initial bite to it. There's
also an aftertaste - similar to Coke's. You know, it's much harder to
write a review of an average root beer than a really bad one. Good ones
can be harder still to write because it's harder to pick out goodness
than badness. This is not a bad root beer; in fact it's pretty good.
What sets the taste apart may be the honey; it helps this brew get away
from the corn syrup rut. There is a faint hint of something else...almost
a fruitiness, though I can't quite put my finger on it. At first taste
it's like IBC, but you have to pay attention to it as the good stuff
is subtle. I like it...I'll give it a B+.
