Spike says:
- Dark (no surprise considering the ingredients)
and headless. I shouldn't read the ingredients list before I try root
beers; it's like reading the last page of the book. Usually. I wasn't
expecting to like this root beer after reading the label because it
sounded like a very heavy brew. Brown sugar, molasses. Great potential
for a bad drink. And "gum arabic"? I would like to meet the
brewmaster that, after taking a sip, said, "Good stuff, but need
something...gum arabic!) Surprisingly, this concoction turned out quite
good. It's pretty smooth (vanilla and light carbonation, though the
label says just "water") in fact. It has a fairly heavy molasses
note (it's pretty much what this smells like) but it is surprisingly
drinkable. A unique taste that works. I like it. As a dog lover I like
that there is a dog on the label. As a moderately educated person, I
don't like the fact they left out the apostrophe in "Chugs".
Ok, I'm picky about stuff like this, but how hard is it to punctuate
a label correctly? Well, I guess if "Lands' End" overcame
a mistake in their name so can "Chugs". At any rate, good
stuff I wouldn't mind picking up once in a while - B+.
