See how Capt'n Eli forces the young lad to row root beer
to shore in a storm while a large parrot rests a talon on the boy's jugular
vein, just in case.

- The Pitch:
- Like the rum-laden vomit of a sailor on shore leave, this swill will
bring the taste of the sea to your middle class inland home.
- The Real Pitch:
- It doesn't look like there is one. Maybe "Made in Maine",
which is good enough for me.
- The Ingredients:
- Water, cane sugar, caramel color, natural and artificial flavorings
including wintergreen oil, anise, vanilla, spices, herbs, citric acid,
sodium benzoate as a preservative.

(warning - this is a very loud website. Don't visit it if you work in
a quiet office)

- More free stuff. The brewer sent this to me with
a comic book. Not enough to sway my opinion so I guess I'll have to
review this honestly. First, I'm predisposed not to like this after
reading the label. Wintergreen oil? Anise? Shoot me now...two of my
least favorite flavors in the world. Second, I'm predisposed to like
this because I lived in Maine, once upon a time. Not near Portland,
but up in the County. I'd move back, but my wife prefers people to moose
so I don't see that happening any time soon. Forget the root beer; I'm
just going to write about myself... As it turns out this is darn good
stuff. Nice and dark with a rich head. Mmm mmm, cane sugar. Magic cane
sugar too. There's 49g of it in the root beer, but according to the
label the bottle only contains 40g of carbohydrates. I think that's
their greatest accomplisment, not this tasty root beer. It's got a creaminess
to it that's not too strong (mmm mmm vanilla) so the root beer still
has an edge. It loses points for the wintergreen thing although it's
really not too strong. You'll get a good blast of mint vapor when you
open a bottle but the taste isn't overpowering. In a nutshell, this
is a really really good root beer that you should look for and drink.
It's one of the top 3 or 4 root beers I've had...maybe even number 2.
They even have products bearing the brand logo so you can join capt'n
Eli's crew on the Ship o' Marketing. You know, though, I do like those
root beer glasses...A-
